    Daily Devotionals Empty Daily Devotionals

Post  Jordyn Wed Feb 29, 2012 1:59 am

I thought we are all Christian girls, then we should have a devotioal. I will organize them everyday unless someone else would like to do it. So here is the first one.
    Ambition
    Verse: Philippians 2:1-4
If you have any encouragment from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassions, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also the interests of others.
So, i would like to hear your opions on this. I still need to think and read to post mine.
    Blessings

    This is Devotion #2.
    Still on Amition

    Haggai 1:2-8
The Lord was very angry with your forefathers. Therefore tell the people: This is what the LORD Almighty says: Return to me, declares the Lord Almighty, and I will return to you, says the LORD Almighty. Do not be like your forefathers, to whom the earlier phrophets proclaimed: This is what the LORD Almight says: 'Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices. But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the LORD. Where are your forefathers now? And the prophets, do they live forever? But did not my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, overtake your forefatehers? Then they repented and said, " The LORD Almight has done to us what our ways and practices deserve, just as he determined to do."
On the twnety-fourth day of the eleventh month, the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to the phrophet Zechariah son of Berekiah, the son of Iddo. During the night I had a vision- and there before me was a man riding a red horse! He was standing among the myrtle trees in a ravine. Behind hime were red, brown, and white horses.

So, i think that the LORD had an ambition to change the peoples hearts o repentance.

This is devotion #3 Still on AMBITION
    Verse: Mark 10:35-45

The James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to join him. "Teacher," they said, " we want you to do for us whatever we ask." "What do you want me to do for you? he asked. They replied, " Let one of us sit at your rughte and the other at your left in your glory." " You don't know what you are asking." Jesus said. " Can you drink from the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?" " We can." they answered. Jesus said to them, " You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, but sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those whom they have been prepared." When the ten heard about this, they became indignate with James and John. Jesus called them together and said, " You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officals exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wabts to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be a slave to all, For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

So, at first, it looks like John and James had the ambition to be at Jesus' right and left had at his glory. Then I think Jesus had a strong desire to tell them what they are to do. Serve.

Today, we are off ambition and on to a diffrent form of devotion. It will be a story.
Title: Chosen by God and the Rejected

Why did God choose Saul to be king, and then later reject him? God knew Saul's heart. Why did Jesus choose Judas Iscariot as one of His disciples? Jesus knew the heart of Judas. It seems strange that God knew the hearts of these men, choose them anyway, and then rejected them afterwards. Saul became greedy. God told him to destroy everything. He and the people decided to keep the best. Judas also was greedy. He sold his Lord for thirty pieces of silver. Ananias and Sapphira to? Greed is covetouness. God can and will take away our positions in our home or church and will reject us if we are disobedient to Him. If we are proud of our position, God will reject us, Whether we are ordained or a layman, we should not let ourselves get puffed up. We need to do everthing in God's will. Here are some sins for which God could rejects us: pride, envy, anger, and covetousness. In Galatians 5:19-21 we can read of things that will cause us to be rejected. Unlike thise who choose to die in their sins, we can choose to repent. God will reject anyone who tries to get to heaven while hiding sin. There is only one way to heaven. You can read about it in Matthew 7:13-14. While on earth, use the eternal road map, the Biblr. It is the only map that will help you stay in God's will.

    This is Devotion #6.

    Title: Humility or Fear?.

One of our worst enimies is a waster of potential and a destroyer of destinies. Fear is the enemy. " Cowards live longer, but suffer the most" is only a saying, but it may not be too far from the truth. " Be the fearful... shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death" ( Revelation 21:Cool. Hell is a place of everlasting suffering reserved for the cowardly. To keep quiet when we should speak is not humility but fear. To speak when we shouldn't speak is not humility but fear. To speak when we shouldn't speak may also be prompted by fear. If we smile undecidedly over straight from the Bible, we misht be compromising in fear. Sometimes we want people to think we are understanding, approachable, and tolerable when we are actually mediocre and lukewarm because of fear. To have true humility, we must embrace Christ in every facet of life. True Christians must be ready to take a loss. Love that casts away fear is sacritical. True worship is humility that calls for self-denial, self-giving, and day-to-day cross-bearing that drives away fear. Loving God and others sacrificially, for Christ's sake, drives away all fear and helps up to attian a fear of God. We must lose if we would gain Christ. We must fail in order to succeed ( Phil. 3:7-Cool. We must sober and vililant to notice the onslaughts of the devil and to respond in a spirit of humility, not in a spirit of fear.

    Thanks!

    Title: Pain Management

Pain management is one concern of people who are suffering phisically. They might try medivation, therapy, or other methodes to alleviate phisical pain. Another kind of pain is also common humanity. While it is not phisical, is it nonetheless very real. It is pain that comes from difficult experiences in life and it afflicts the soul rather than the body. FOr us to remain spiritually healthy, some pain management must be in place to alleviate the pain that is cutting the heart. Here are a few things that can be helpful in dealing with inner pain. Pour out your heart to God. We have a heavenly Father who cared deeply about us. He invites us to share our inner struggles and pain with Him. Hardly anything will ease the pain like pouring out your heart to Him. Believe God's promises. God's Word contains many promises that apply to a variety of circumstances we might experience. Meditating on the Bible brings peace to our souls. Counsel with fellow Christians. God works through people. SOme times we need to share with fellow human. Sharing our heart with a caring person can relieve the inner pressure and assist in healing. Others can also lift us to God's throne in prayer. Engage in constructive activity. To sit and brood about our problems will create an environment in which pain increases. Getting out and doing something constructive will focus our minds to more positive things and will cause the pain to subside. All of us sometimes have to deal with inner pain. We can go to the great Physician and find healing for our wounded spirits.

    Thanks you!

    Devotion #8
    Tony's Trouble

'What did that say?" Tony read the words again in his Bible lesson. Thou shalt have no others gods before me. No other gods! Tony looked at the image and other objects on the mantle. Those where Daddy's things. Dddy was not a Christian. Sometimes, Daddy prayed in front of the shelf. Tony read the words again. He frowned. What did God think of those things on the mantle? " What's wrong?" Mother asked as she brought a basket of laundry to the table. " You looked troubled." " I was thinking" " About ehat? asked Mother as the folded a towl in half. " What does God think of Daddy's things on the mantle?" " Why do you ask? Mother smoothed the towel flat. Tony squinted at Mother. " I'm reading what God says about other gods. Is Daddy's image a god?" Mother's hands moved fast. " To your Daddy it is. I wish Daddy would not worship him," Mother said. " He does not believe in God and Jesus. He prays to Buddha." Tony wrinkled his brow. " But the Bible says not to have others gods, and daddy does." " I know." Mother said as she reached for another towel, " but we will love Daddy and pray for him to find the Lord." Mother pointed out the verses in the Bible. " Here, reads what God says about what we are to worship." Tony put his finger on the words and read, " Thour shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow thyself to them, nor serve them:for i the Lord thy God am a jealous God." " That's far enough," mother said. "That is part of the Ten Commandments that God gave to His people. Then he said, " The Bible sayd not to make images of any kind and not to worship anything but God." Mother stacked the towels neatly. " That's right," she said with a smile. " I hope you will always worship only God." Tony looked worried. " But mother, what will happen to us and Daddy if we have an idol in our home." Mother said, " Your and I are not worshipping the idol. We love the Lord Jesus." " May we throw it away>" asked Tony. " Daddy would be angry," Mother said, " but we cam pray for him." " Let's do it now." So, they prayed. The next day, the idol was still ther. Tony looked at it and shuddered. Only God could hear and answer the needs of people. An idol could do nothing at all. Tony prayed many times that day about the idol. The next day the mantle was bare. " Wheres the idol?" Tony asked Daddy. " I put it away." daddy said. " Oh, Daddy, won't you believe in Jesus. " I don't think so," Daddy said. " But Daddy, you should see what the Bible says about idols." Tony swallowed as he handed the Bible to Daddy. Daddy read the words. Then he shut the Bible and started at it. " What do you think?" Tony asked. I will think abotu it" he said. Tony thanked God.

    Thanks!

    Devotion #9
    A Better Way to Celebrate

"Mom," Jose popped his head around the plank door jam. " All Carlos' family are going to a Father's Day party at the school. Can we go?" Jose's snitched a fresh tortilla as he watched his mother. Her hands patted a lump of corn dough and slapped it into a hot comal to bake. "No son. We are Christians. We do not want to go to a bad party." Jose gnawed at the tortilla. The days were as alike as his mother's tortilla's in this little village in Guatumala. And just about as hot too. There might be cold pop at the party. His tongue touched his lips, imagining the coolness. "Carlos and Pablo and Mario are all going and their not bad." Mother sighed. "Your friends aren't Christians, dear," she said. " And the men who are planning the party aren't Christians. There will be bad music and strong drink there. You can have a good time with Father by helping him." Outside, Father was tugging at a clumo of thatch which stuck sideways out of the smooth pattern of the roof. "This will need to be repaired before rainy season." He poked at the hole and winked at Jose. " Why are you frowning son? Missing school because it Saturday?" " I want to go to the Father's Day party," pouted Jose. " Maybe you could play with Mario," suggested Father. Jose slid a glance at father. "Mario's going to the party," he grumped. " May i go with him?" Father frowned briefly. " You may go to Luis's house. They are Christians too, so they will not be going to the party." Jose flopped in the hammock and played with the kittens. He thought about playing marbles by himself, but his marbles were lost. He tried to use a small stone, but it jumped into the weeds. Then he had an idea. " I will go to Luis's house now," he told the brown heen with a bald spot. The brown hen cocked an eye at him. When he got to the fork in the trail, he looked back. Ftaher had gone to get firewood. Mother was working with her back to him.. No one would see if he didn't go to Luis's house. He trotted down the path toward the school. Ahead of him music pounded. " Esperate! Wait!" a voice barked nearby. Jose jumped. A burly form loomed in front of him. It was Carlos's father, He swayed a bit a he lumbered toward Jose. The big man grabbed Jose's shirt and twisted it tight under his chin. His red eye's glittered. " Where are you going?" Jose gasped for breath. " To-to Luis's house," he shuttered. Why was Carlos' father acting so strangly? "Huh," the man puffed at Jose. Foul breath washed over him. Then the man dropped him in the dirt like a dirty cat. Jose shot for home. His heart pumped. His hard feet made dust puffs in the footpath. He dodged the hens ladder, ducked under the banana tree's, and stopped, puffing , at the laundry sink where him mother was busy washing clothes. She stopped suddenly and looked up at him. "Jose, what happened?" "I met Carlos' dad on the road." Jose felt his lips quiver. " He was acting funny. I thought he would hurt me. " Jose." Mother brished dirt from Jose's chin. " Did you meet him on the way to Luis's house?" Jose's chest felt heavy. " You were going to the party, weren't you?" Jose nodded slowly. Mother said, " I am glad you did not get to the party. Do you really wish you had a father like Carlos?" " No!" Jose plopped forcefully into the hammock. He thought about his father, working to make their home more comfortable. " I am going to help Father." " And I," Mother's eyes sparkled, " am making a chicken caldo for supper. That is a much better way to celebrate Father's day." Jose smiled in agreement.

Hello all! How are you? I am well. Here is the next devotional!

    Nathans Shares a Story

Sunday school and the preaching service were over. the Brunk family had finished their dinner and the dishes were washed. After a little rest, mama came out of her room. " Get your socks and shoes on so we can go vistiting," she said. " Where are we going?" asked six-year-old Nathan as he pulled on a sock. "To vistit Mr. Josh. He's rather discouraged and needs someone to come and vistit and cheer him up. Grandpa and Grandma are riding with us," Mama said. " Oh goody, I like to ride with them!" said Nathan, quickly slipping his feet into his shoes. While the family was driving through a small town, Daddy pointed and said, "Look up there! A squirrle is running across that utility line stretched across the highway," " How can he do that?" gasped Nathan. " Why dpesn't he fall down? I don't think i could do that. Oh, look! Now he's running down the electric ople headfirst!" " No, i am sure you couldn't do that," agreed Daddy, "But God made squirrles with sharp nails and strong, grasping paws. They can do many funny stunts and are very interesting to watch." Nathan sighed. " That squirrle looks like he's having so much fun. Why didn't God make me so I could do things like that?" "Nathan," comforted Mama. " you can do so many more things then a squirrle can do." " I can? Like what?" asked Nathan., " Well, you can ride a bike. Do you think a squirrle can do that?" Can you imagine a squirrel going to school like you're so anxious to do in the fall? Do you think he could learn to read?" " Of course not!" giggled Nathan. " I think I'm happy to just be Nathan." " It's always good to be content with the way God made us," encouraged Mama. Soon they were driving through the country. Again, Daddy pointed and exclaimed, " Look, there's a small hawk! he's grabbed up something. What is it?" " It's a ground squirrel," said Grandpa. "but it is too heavy for the hawk. See, he fluttered to the ground and is eating the little animal on the spot." " that mean old hawk; why is he so mean?" cried Nathan. " Well, Nathan," explained Daddy,"Hawks must eat too. God made the to want fresh ,meat. they help to keep the balance in nature. If nothing killed a ground squirrel, there would soon be too many of them and they would become a nuisance." " Well after seeing what that hawk did, I'm very, very glad I'm not a squirrel," Mathan said with a contented sigh. Mama chuckled and said, "We're glad too, Nathan. Now, you will have some stories to thell Mr.Josh." "oh yes, I am sure he will like to hear about the squirrled. Are we about there Daddy?" " Yes, we are in his driveway right now," said daddy, bringing the car to a stop in front of the house. After the adults visted a while, Mama said, " mr. Josh, i think Nathan has some exciting stories to share with you." " All right, Nathan, I'm ready to listen," encouraged Mr.Josh. After Nathan told his squirrel stories, Mr. Josh said, "Nathan, you're a real day-brightener. thanks for sharing some things that happened outside these four walls! So, you've decided you don't want to be a squirrel anymore?" " At first i thought it would be fun to be a squirrel and do all those fun things. nut after Mama said squirrels can't ride a bike or learn to read, and after i saw the hawk grab up that ground squirrel, I changed my mins real quick. that first squirrel sure was fun to watch, but I am very happy just to be me." " I am sure it pleases God when we're happy with the way he makes us," Mr. josh said. " I really enjoyed your story, because when I was young and able to be out and about. I always enjoyed things in nature. i want you to be watching for other exciting happenings, so the next time you come you van share some more stories. Will you do that?" " I am glad you liked my stories, Mr. Josh, and I'll watch for more to share with you. I just now thought of another reason I'm not a squirrel. I can tell storyies, and squirrels can't" Mr. Josh chuckled, "Yes, you're right about that, and it's always good to count our blessings."
    Thank you all!

    A True Testimony for Christ

Beep! Beep! Sleepily Trisha rolled over to turn her alram off. Surely it's not time to get up already? But then she remembered: Today they were going to Philadelphia to pick up twin girls who would be staying with their family for the summer. She was so exited as she was the only girl in a family of four brothers. Trisha jumped out of bed and put on her favorite pink dress. She ran downstairs and helped mom finish making breakfast. After hurriedly eating, they put the dirty dishes into the dishwater, and jumped in the van. About an hour later, they arrived at the mission where they were meeting the girls. As Trisha's family followed the misson director, they were surroned by silence. the girls sat shyly in chairs. One of the missonary women was sitting with them and introduced the girls, " This is Shania, and here's Keisha." After the paperwork was done, the family headed to Friendly's for some ice cream. Everyone was feeling a little shy, but they all soon warmed up to each other and started laughing and having fun. once they arrived home, yTrisha and her brothers-Jackson, judah, Aden, and Mason- vied with each other, trying to shwo the twins al around their home. the next morning, the girls came down for breakfast and found the table all nicley decorated. " Mom, what is the speacial occasion?" asked Trisha. " I thought it would be nice to celebrate the arrival of Shania and Kesha," Mother replied cheerfully. " that is so nice of you, Mrs. Beiler, but you really didn't need to do this for us," replied Shania. " Well, i just wanted to. We are so glad you are here to give Trisha some girl company for the summer, and we want you to feel apart of our family." answered Mother. " Girls, another surprise for today! Aunt Lori wants to take you to the shopping center today. She wants to help buy items for Keisha and Shania. You can take as long as you need." The girls arrived to the mall around 10:30 am. Aunt Lori told them to look around while she went to pick out a wedding gitfs for someone at their church. In the midst of all thier shopping, the girls came to a store with loud music playiong and suggestive clothing displayed. " Let's go into that store," suggested Shania. " Well, we believe that type of store is not for Christian. The clothing is immodest, plus the music they play is not what Christians want to listen to." Trisha said. " but why can't you wear that type of clothing? i do. Am i wrong?" Keisha wondered. " In the Bible, it tells us that women are supposed to cover thier bodies, not to show them off. When we get home i will show you the verses in the Bible and have Mother explain it better." said Trisha. " I really want to learn more about your religon and everything," replied Keisha. " It sounds very intresting." It just so happened that some older teenage girls from Trisha's church walked out of that store. Recognizing Trisha, they said "hi" and came over to talk. " So these are the girls that are going to be staying with you this summer?" Lisa asked. " Yes, that's correct." replied " this is Shania; and this is Keisha and they are both thirteen." " That is so exiting that they can stay with you . I am sure you are having fun. Are you bringing them to church tommorow?" " Yes, they are coming with us." replied trisha. " Well, then i guess we'll see you tommorow at church. Have fun shoping. by the way, that store we just came out of is having a major sale on all their clothing. you should reallly check it out. Look what we got." the girls said, as their pulled out clothes that Trisha would never consider wearing. Trisha was surprised that the first thing she said was, " Why did you buy those clothes?" " It is just for fun and dress up. We do nto wear them out in public. Anyway, I'm sure Shania and Keisha would love to get some." said Lisa, as the girls walked off to continue their shopping. Trisha's heart sank. Here she had just explained why Christians don't go into those kind of stores and now these girls from church were telling them to do it. how was she ever going to explain things now? They had just ruined her testimony. Thankfully the girls did not ask any questions about it right there. Trisha could not enjoy the rest of the day because she kept thinking about Lisa and the other girls. " Why do they do stuff like that and ruin other Christians' testimony? Why do i dress the way i do if other girls from church think it's all right to dress differently? Trisha was so confused she did not know what to think. She was going to have to ask Mother when they got home. Aunt Lori showed up and asked the girls how shopping was going. She went with them to another store and helped them buy a few items. Okay girls, its time to go home now, she said. On arriving home, the girls showed Mother their many purchases. Great, girls, I'm glad you were able to find things you could use. Today while you were gone I finished something that I am sure you will like. Come follow me and I will show you. Mother took them to the sewing room. She held up three look-alike dresses. Oh they are so beautiful the girls chorused. I am glad you like them said Mother. I thought it would be nice if you could all have matching dresses to wear to church tomorrow. I also thought you could take some pictures with them on. That sounds like fun commented Keisha. I love the color said Shania. Trisha was wondering whether Keisha or Shania would say something about the girls they saw while shopping. When neither of them did, she asked, Mother, when we were shopping today we came to some stores that had loud music and immodest clothing. I explained to Keisha and Shania why we don't go in those stores but then we saw Lisa and two of ther friends coming out of one. They came and talked to us and showed us some of the thing they had bought. They encouraged us to go in because the store was having a special sale. So, why shouldn't we go in those stores if Lisa and her friends can?
Well, Trisha, not everyone thinks those kind of stores are wrong. People like to get as close to the world as possible and still claim to be Christian. They do not want to stick out and be a shining light for Christ. But why am I not allowed to wear that type of clothing?" asked Trisha. " Because God says in the Bible that Christians are to dress modestly and not to follow the fads of the world. Lisa and her friends need to decide for themselves what kind of testimony they are going to give. But it makes it harder for other Christians since they look just like us but shop in those places and buy that style of clothing. Turning to Shania and Keisha, MOther asked, Does this make sense to you, girls? Yes, we understand. We want to dress modestly and wear these dresses, replied the girls. Turning to Trisha, Shania said Thanks, Trisha, for standing up for what's right and telling us what you believe and why. Thank you, too, for not being ashamed to talk about it. We now better understand some of your beliefs. Thank you for not being a confusing Christian, added Keisha. The rest of the summer flew by with lots of fun and happy times. At the end of the summer, when it was time for the girls to go home, it was a very sad good-bye. They hop[ed to come back next summer and thanked the whole family for being such wonderful hosts. Thanks so much for showing us what it means to live for Christ, said Keisha. We will never forget added Shania. Trisha treasured that summer in her heart and purposed to continue to stand up for Christ no matter what. She wanted to show the way of Christ to everyone she met. By George Allen Bennett

Hello everyone! How are you? I am fine.
Heres the next on, #12, Long, Short, or No Hair?

Eshter closed her math book and shoved it inside her desk. Her work was done for the day. All the other second graders were still working on their lessons except Lucy She was reading a library book. Lucy was always the first one to be finished with her work. She worked quietly and never got into trouble with the teacher. Esther was doing much better at sitting still and being quiet than she had last year, but she was still to wiggly to bbe a little lady like Lucy. Esther pulled her library book form her desk. As she opened the book she looked enviously at the long braids hanging down Lucy's back. They were so long her mother always fastened them together to make a big U on Lucy's back. " I with my braids were as long as Lucy's," Esther thought. " She said with her opens her braids to brush her hair she was sit on it!" Esther pulled one of her short braids over her shoulder. She stretched our the curl on the end of the braid, but the braid did not stretch. " Lucy has the longest hair, the neatest writing, and the best grades in the class," Esther thought. " She has everything. It's not fair." With all her heart she wanted to wear her braids in a U on her back like Lucy. " Can you tie my braids toghether to make a U on my back?" Eshter asked Mom the next morning when she was combing Esthers hair. " Your hair isn't long enough for that." Mom said. " Please!" Esther begged " I want to see how it looks." " All right." Mom said. " You maysee how it look and if you don't like it I will untie it again." Esther smiled. She could hardly wait to see how it looked. " There," Mom said. " See if you like it." Esther took the hand mirror and tuned around so she could see her back in the mirror. Her heart sank. Her braids covered the back of her neck. They didn't hang in a U on her back. " That doesn't look like Lucy's hair at all!" Esther said as tear welled up in her eyes. " Shall i untie it?" Esther nodded. " Why is my hair so short?" she cried. " That's just how God made you," Mom said. " SOme people have long hair, some have short hair, and some have no hair at all. Look at Daddy. Would you rather have a shinny bald head like Daddy or your own short hair?" " My hair!" Esther gasped. She didn't want to be bald like daddy. " Daddy used to have thick black curly hair," Mom said. " It fell out soon after we were married. Did you ever hear Daddy complain about being bald?" " No," Esther said with a little giggle. She remembered how Daddy often laughed, tuubed his hand over his head, and said, " The most expensive pice of funiture is one with a marble top." Daddy is satisfied being the way God made him, " said Mom. " And you should be too. Your hair will probably never be as long as Lucy's, but it is longer now then is was a couple of years ago. It will probably grow somemore soon. Jealousy will make you unhappy and misreable, but it oun't make your hair grown longer. Now run along and finish getting ready before the bus gets here." Esthers short brown braids bounced on her shoulders as she hopped down the steps to the coatroom at school. She set her lunch box on the shelf above the coat hooks and hung her jacket on the hook beside Lucy's jacket. " How did you get you hair to do that? I mean curl that way?" Lucy asked as she poked her finger up at the curl at the end of esthers short braid. " Just twist it around my finger." Esther said in surprise. She had never guessed enyone might envy her hair. " That doesn't work for me." Lucy said as she wrinkled her nose. " It's straight as a stick. I wish i had hari curled like yours." " Striaghjt hair is better than none." She said. " Would you like to be bald like my daddy?" " Of course not!" Lucy replied. " I like your hair because it is so long." Esther giggled. " But we can't trade hair; I guess we shoudl both be satisfied with the way God made us." By Romaine Stauffer.
